Paper Masques is a collective of Philadelphia musicians revolving around
the song writing of Zelda Pinwheel founder, Stephen Quaranta.
Originally formed in the Summer of 2008 with former Teeth drummer, Jonas
Oesterle, as a vehicle for Quaranta to perform his acoustic material;
the band has since evolved into a five piece ensemble with Quaranta and
Oesterle being joined by Gretchen Lohse and Naeemah Maddox on strings
and backing vocals, along with Dave Barbaree on bass. Paper Masques will
begin 2011 by taking their punk fueled chamber-folk into
Philadelphia’s Retro City Studios to record their second full length
album.
